Paul - I have to agree with you. I've had the opportunity to see a good number of original #307 radiator pressure caps on 63-65 Corvettes and the only difference I've see which others have noted is every once in a while you'll see a light circle around the 307 13# numbers and if I were a betting man I'd say it's from the stamp and not a specific design feature.

If there are unique differences in the stamping on the original #307 radiator cap covers for the various years, I trust the folks who are familiar with them will educate us. Pete

Troy - Don't know why the repops don't have the gaskets but since most of the other features differ from the originals why would they bother with the gasket.

Paul, in addition to 61 and early 63, which I previoulsy mentioned, DeWitts catalog says that cap is also correct for 65 big block applications. They say small blocks without air would have the 307 and 13# circled. I have such a cap if you need one.

Remember when CC saw the key Peter? It was so funny. Although he didn't think so.

Thanks Troy but I believe the DeWitts catalog may not be correct in this instance. Why would the big block and small block share basically the same cap with the only difference being a circled 307 13#?

              Good question Paul.

The metal composition of the Rivet "peened over stud" matches the radiator metal.
                Copper/Brass-Copper/Brass
                Aluminum-Aluminum
If you look closely at the center of the "Rivet" on an original, you can see it has been "Formed". Most repops we have seen have been "Drilled Out".
