C1 '58 Hood Hinge - Bubba at work?

In looking at my original '58 hood hinges it looks like Bubba has been at work on the front bolt slots. This sure doesn't look like GM does it?

They're at least fairly symetrical.

You should see what they do to 53-57's trying to adjust the body line or poping up action.

Could be original. THe hinges on my 56 have a lot of that "slotting".

Could be original. THe hinges on my 56 have a lot of that "slotting".

The only reason for seeing the slotting on 53-57 is because people don't understand the pop-ups or how to adjust the hinges for the hood to meet the front body line.Every time you see some one placing their hand under the front of the hood to aid it to open they don't understand how to adjust things.

Another cause for this kind of "adjustment" is the correct shimming of the core support. As you know this supports the whole front body. So if the shims are not accurately placed the front end sits low and then the hood doesn't fit right until this is done.
