    Proteam Seminar

I went to the Al Grenning seminar at Proteam Saturday. It was great like last year. We learned a lot about pad stamping & 1965,66 & 67 POP'S NCRS is coming out with a book similar to the trim tag book for the POP'S. Now one can spot repo POP'S. Afternoon was about GM & it's race program in the 60'S. Also I saw him give people free advice on the originality of there pad stamp from pictures they brought. Al was very gracious about in. I took hin copies of all the tank stickers & window stickers of cars that I have had. He was very appreciative for them. If you go to one of his seminars & have a copy of any of the above please take him a copy.

Sorry, but I would have to charge him for any copies of original documents. It works both ways, IMO. FWIW.

      OK DAVID
He only charges if you have him personally looks at & gives written opinion. TERRY paid him to give him a written opinion all others that got a oral opinion did not pay. For those that get it no explanation is needed. For those that don't, including you, none is possable.

TERRY has done more for this hobby than you will ever know. You nu beys kill me. Where were you 35 years ago when Terry made this hobby what it is today . He was the biggest promoter for old Corvettes in the early 70"s

            Ken,

            Amen!

Pro Team and Terry have been screwed just like the rest of us by those who want to cheat.

Putting on that seminar was a service to the hobby and it also enlightened his people so they won't get stuck with bogus cars.

And Al Gore invented the internet too.

There were a few other pretty important folks in this business in the 70's that startedn it all. Richard Buxbaun and Bob Wingate were the two that were on the ground floor, years ahead of everyone.

I'm not saying anything at all negative about Terry Michaelis as I've known Terry for almost 35 years but I think Terry was best known for selling Corvette parts.

I agree, these new guys like that Clem character.... probably never even owned an older Corvette.

i bought my first new corvette in 1959 and since then i have owned a 62,63-SWC,64,65-396,factory pickup,66-427,97,99,02,05 and now a 08,all new. 40 years ago i was out of corvettes due to needing more seats since we had a son. i was out from 67 to 97 mostly because i did not care for C-4s. i always wanted a ZR-1,loved the engine but hated the car. saw the C-5 at the dealer showing and as they say "the rest is history"

Here are some pics from the seminar:

I do not know Al personally, but I can say from attending his presentation that he is certainly passionate about his material. He seems to be very unselfish to me with his time and information. I feel that he is a great asset to the hobby.

Sidenote: The number of cars in ProTeam's inventory was mind boggling.

Clem and I grew up at Grabiak Chevrolet in the late 50's, 60's, 70's, etc. Clem was a founding member of CCWP. Corvette Club or Western PA.
I hate to admit it but he has forgotten more about Corvettes and Corvette trivia than most of us know. In my 'hood if you had a Corvette issue you consulted Clem. I gave him his nick name an eon ago. Smokey Clem.
As far as Terry goes he is my friend and a hard working one at that. Few dealers work a show as hard as he and his crew do. It's not like the old days you know where you could go to the Corvette Expo, etc and buy cars for a song and bring them north for a huge profit. He pays big bucks for those cars. And he doesn't know 1/2 the time if they are fakes or whatever. If you want to sell you Corvette Terry has the cash in hand to buy it. No messing around.
Lately I see this forum going astray and it's disturbing. Some of us are too quick to bury a vendor or a company. Try running one of those businesses yourself and see how much fun it is. It's hard work and if you slip up one time you are cremated on the forums. Think before you speak as my Dad used to say. JD

JD, some very, very, very good words. It's been a difficult year for many of us to get thru, with economic woes, and a sometimes bitterly fought political season. There have been a few days where it could have easily have gotten me down,......then I think of how blessed in life I am, to have my family, and relatively good health. On cloudy, dreary days (such as today), I walk out into the garage and take one more look at my baby out there, sitting on jack stands, ready for me to get her back on the road where she belongs. Always gets me in a good mood.
I think several of us, probably need to take a day off, and think about your blessings. We can always disagree respectfully, but IMHO, it's time to drop the criticisms, that can border on hateful.
I have read great posts from litterly hundreds of contributors. As with all forums, we could probably all admit that some contributors wind up with the most helpful, or most interesting posts. Clem is one of many that fits into that category. If he isn't, then tell me thru a PM who is more intersting, or helpful. That's all I'll say. Enjoy your day. Ridge.
