Is there a good over the counter spray paint for the frame of a 61 that works good and has the right color and shine?

Re: 61 frame paint
PPG has an OMNI line of paint (lower cost) that I used on my frame. You can purchase a flattening agent that will allow you to adjust the sheen from flat to full gloss. I purchased a gallon of catalyzed enamel and varied the sheen on all the chassis parts including the frame as per the 1961 JG.

Re: 61 frame paint
Jack,
Restoration of your Fuel Injected 1961 should be the same as any other restoration project. You need to do your home work to insure you get the correct replacement parts, date codes and FI only parts. Research after-market parts, some are good and close to the original and others aren't even close. I have created a web page that provides some information that may help you. Many NCRS members have provided information and help with this web page. If you can provide pictures or information about your project I will include it on the web site to help others.
If I can help in any way, just let me know!
Ray

Re: 61 frame paint
Do some research on this. I believe the frames were dip painted upside down. Therefore, if you want your paint job to look factory, you'll want runs in the paint, and you'll want them running up. Not sure, though. Get some more input, if you're having this judged.- Top

C1 frames were painted at A.O. Smith-Milwaukee hanging vertically, on hooks from an overhead monorail conveyor, rear crossmember down; they were dipped in a mild acid solution, then in a neutralizer, then in DuPont #475-763 self-etching black frame primer, then baked for 30 minutes at 325*F.- Top
