Wow great pictue Joe. Most of us wouldn't even pull our trailors down that muddy cow path much less drive our C-1 on it. How times have changed. Looks like a 54 or 55 just in front of the 58. Rich

The striped 57 appears to be the Bark Henry-Rosenthal car. Then owned by Harry Zink. No wonder the frame had rust. The car was the first RPO 684 57, won Lime Rock and Montgomery and may have been the most successful B Production car in 57.

It has been a while since I've been to Pomona, but this Fall seems likely. I'll try to stay in touch just in case you want to come North for a day.

                Hi Joe,
I'm enjoying your pictures and learning about an era I know almost nothing about.
I'm curious about the car of which we can only see the windshield. The one next to the fellow with his hands in his pockets. I want to think Cobra but isn't this picture too old? You can just see a headlight through the windshield of the 56/57. Maybe Sprite??? I remember a Sprite as having a straight top to it's windshield???
                Regards,
                Alan

Loren..I am not sure if Jack and Barb Davis are still alive. Jack was in the Marines in Florida and Quantico ,Virginia if someone wants to do some hunting.

Alan..how about that Speedster next to the 58?

                          Pretty cool!

There are other photo's in this series that I plan to include in the book ( courtesy of Chuck Spiteri ). Contributions of historical photo's like these are important and Chuck deserves credit for sharing. Others are uncovering vintage material like this and I would expect to see more over the next year. The 1956 St.Louis production SR1's, the 56 and 57 Sebring cars, the Nassau/Daytona cars and so much more.

I can understand the fascination of the brute strength and performance of the Grand Sports..but as a production car the 1957 Fuelie was one of the top ten fastest cars 0 to 60 for many years...and it's styling is timeless.

                              Alan,

Although the car has been identified as an MGA, in the mid-fifties the AC Ace was produced which provided the platform for the early Cobra.

                              Regards.
