    Re: Lift Questions

I also purchased a Back Yard Buddy and find the lift great. I have used various professional lifts in the past and find this just as sturdy.

It is a bear to put together however, especialy if you attempt to do it alone, which I did when I originally installed the lift. Later, I had to remove it to replace my garage floor and then reinstall the lift - all alone again.

This past summer I added their hydraulic jack platform and have no problem doing front end work or removing any of the wheels.

    Regards,

    Dennis

      Re: Lift Questions

I purchased a lift from super Lift (superior lift their real name) out of the Midwest. The lift works OK and it is American made. The problem I had was getting it delivered and installed. I was told 4-6 weeks it took 10-12 weeks. The accessory air jack was never delivered. Be careful who you order from.

        Re: Lift Questions

I will be using it to expand my garage. (1976 & 1981).I will also use it to change oil and minor cleanup work. The one problem I have is no place to put your hands on it. Also the Stinger web site is poor and limited info. I'm going to visit a place that has a Stinger and then go to visit a Bendpak.

I bought a Kwik-Lift two years ago because of low clearance also. I needed to get under the car for a host of reasons (clean, inspect, take pictures, document, study, etc) before I start my restoration and I was tired of jacking it up. I love it. Be sure to get the dollys to move around. They have a good website that explains everything. Talk to Danny, the owner, real nice guy.

Wow, $5K. You guys might just consider checking out your local auction fliers. There are numerous auto dealerships going out and selling off. I just bought a Rotary Lift out of a Ford dealership for $1300. Nice American made and cheap.

                Re: Lift Questions

I bought the Direct Lift that was used at the recent Kissimmee Florida Regional. I wanted one for my new house in Florida.

At my Maryland house, I have a Superior 4 poster. I've had it for many years. It's been great, but it is impractical to try to move 2000 lbs of steel 1000 miles to the new house. I've had no problems with the Superior lift.

The "used" Direct Lift that I bought at the meet functioned flawlessly, and they gave me a great deal.

Total cost, including Florida sales tax was $1902.00. For that price, they delivered it to my house up near Crystal River, about 1 1/2 hours away.

It was a deal I couldn't pass up.

I have totaly assembled a Corvette doing a frameoff on a four post lift. With the tires all off you have a nice table to work on. I have the center filled in with two foot sections of plywood with two x four bracing. I have used the complete lift surface many times to sort out my swap meet parts at a heigth that is easy to work on.
Tire and brake work would be eaiser on a two post. The best world would be to own two but I don't have the room as I need the extra storage. Always own one too many Corvettes. Have not had a regular car in a 8 car garage in years.

                        I have a Mohawk 2 post asymmetrical.
The posts are 96" tall so it fit great in my 9 foot ceiling garage.
Can't fully stand under it, but I can raise the car just enough to get another car under.

It is commercial grade and super heavy duty.
I bought it used for 1/3rd the cost of a new one.
                        Neo likes it too.

I have an old AUTOLIFTER 2 post lift (company now out of business).
It is a very reliable safe lift.
But, I feel you should not store a C1 on it or any 2 post lift for any length of time.
When I put my 57 or 62 up to work on it you can see the door gaps open up.
                              No harm done but ...

                                Re: Lift Questions

WOW - just finished the installation of my direct lift 8S. The lift went together in 4-hours with a 30 min pizza break with 3-friends. The lift was purchased from Greg Smith Equipment in Indiana. Spoke with Greg on phone the lift arrived on time Wed. delivered to my shop with dock in a covered semi truck. It took a fork lift to pull it off in 1-piece then trailered o my house Saturday. We took it apart from the packing. The lift had minor scratches from shipping.

With 4-guys it works well no need for special lift to move decks. The heaviest piece was the deck with the ram 440lbs which 4-guys handled easy. The cables were easier to install than I thought. The hardest part was trying to place it in the garage so it fit with access to the other garage stuff.

Once assembled the lift worked on our test then the 1976 went on 1st - found that the solid antenna was problem with ceiling so the 1981 went on top since it had power a antenna.

The 1976 went underneath and we installed the 3-drip tays that came with the lift. The caster kit that also came with the lift along with the jack stand went in storage until needed.

The lift worked great and now I have a happy daughters 1 who can park her car inside now and both of my girls are asking me to show them how to change there own oil.

Nothing better - 2 - Car Crazy Daughters to share time with.

Point being the lift was worth the 2,065.00 and 30 bucks for Pizza and Beer.
