How do I remove the door lock knob on a 59

Gently push the door panel back/away from the knob. Look around at the back side of the knob and you should see a clip holding the knob to a groove cut into the shaft the knob rides on.

Use a pair of needle nose pliers or an L-shaped hook to grab the clip and pull it off the knob sideways. The knob should now simply lift off the shaft.

Another trick is to use a "shop towell" and spin it around while working it in behind the knob. Many times the fabric will catch the end of the clip and pull it off. Don H.
