Hi Reba, it was nice to finally meet you in St. Charles.
I did email Roy a week or two ago asking about this judging, but for whatever reason I didn't get a response.
I'm going to get the car judged as soon as it's eligible, which will be 2011, I think. As the previous posters said, simply going through the judging required to try for the Hill Award will tell me if the car is Crossed Flags material, as I think it may be.

It has been mentioned, but, just to be clear.
The Check off/Sign off at the Regional level only qualifies the car for the National Judging with the POSSIBILITY of achieving the award.
The final outcome of the attainment of the award (or not) will be determined through the National judging process.

        Pat,

I apologize for not getting back to you in a timely manner on your request, two weeks ago today was the Convention final day. Unfortunately emails continue to arrive even when I am busy doing other things and it takes a while to catch up.

The others have done a good job of explanation, not much I can add, Mike Murray, Stephen Byrd and Jack Humphrey are dead on with there explanations. That's not to say others are not. The big difference between the Bowtie and Crossed Flags is the higher threshold of 90% and that all Crossed Flags applicants have to be McLellan recipients. Most of the sign offs have been grand fathered because we just started the program last year. Cars that are presented the year after the McLellan attempt have been approved by the Team Leader based on the judging track record in pursuit of the McLellan, those that try a couple years down the road will have to be brought back for a sign off like the Bowtie requires, simply because the Team Leaders will not be able to remember the specific car.

No apology necessary Roy, I know you've been very busy, and I wasn't positive you'd even received it. It was my usual impatience that caused me to seek input from the TDB so soon after I'd emailed you. Thank you for your response. Regards, Patrick
