    C1 Heater Motor

I am trying to install back in the car the heater assembly that belongs to my '57. The wiring diagram shows one brown wire coming from the switch to the motor. The motor that is with the heater assembly has four wires coming out of it: one green, one yellow, one red and one black.
Do I have the wrong motor? it has - 3048F 12V - stamped at one end and sure looks like all other C1 heater motor that I have seen in the past including in my '60 and '56.
Any help as how this motor, and the switch with three terminals, should be wired would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Pierre 34410

I need to go double check, but my December 1956 build '57 has the one brown wire.

Pierre, Steven's correct only one wire for the '56-7 heater motor. Not sure what you have with 3 leads present but for sure it's not a '56-7 heater fan. Gary....

My '57 #4275 also had one brown wire to the motor; I've never seen a Corvette heater blower with more than one wire.

It could be (if you want to use this motor on a temporary or permanent basis) you could just use what I believe would be the one "high speed" wire and let the dash heater reostat switch do its job. I do not know if one of these four is a ground. If so, you may have to use it too in case the motor is such that it requires a direct ground instead of using the motor housing itself as a ground. I'm doing some guessing here, of course. This post may self destruct in 60 seconds... Good Luck, Dennis

Thanks all for your help. I searched the number on the end of the motor on Google and found out it came out of a bus or truck heater. The fit is absolutely perfect, even the squirrel cage. As suggested, I played with the wires and found a combination that works but I will be looking for one in Carlisle later this month. Thanks again.
