      Dave,
I think we're gonna be tearing into the door on a '64 tomorrow morning, so I'll hopefully be able to take some helpful pictures which I'll post.

          Dave,
Well I hope these are helpful. Took me an extra day, as we did more work than expected, and had a few more cold ones than expected as well.

These are of the passenger side door. Basically, the other side had the tang/tab facing foward as well.

          Good Luck,
          David

David, I can tell you one thing for sure to keep in mind while struggling thru the door lock project. Make sure you don't have the two locks reversed side to side like my 63.(LWC) Here is how the key should operate the door lock according to the ops team at the Seven Springs regional. Turn the key forward the the doors unlock. On my 63 when I turn the key forward the doors lock. Forward means toward the headlights.
This info is in either the judging reference manual or the 5th edition. I forget which.
Study your 63 shop manual. I don't plan on changing my locks until I can find some nice NOS window crank handles and other bling. Hint. Good luck, John

Thanks Jophn I appreciate the comment. My right and left side locks look the same. I had to switch the left side 180 degrees.

                  David,
Thanks for the pictures. They are of the right side door correct? I think your car is a late 64 because the 63 and early 64 is a bit different. At least it looks a bit different than mine. None the less, if this is the right door that I am looking at, it gives me the switch tab orientation.
                  Thanks, David

                    David,
Yes, it is the right side (passenger) and you are correct about it being a late '64. It is owned by a friend of mine.

If I get some time, I may try to pull my door panel and see what it looks like. Mine is an early '64.

                        David,
Well I got around to taking my Passenger door apart to the point I could take some pictures of my early door lock. There is definitely a difference between my friends late '64 and my early '64.

I hope these help you, if not let me know and I'll see what else I can do to possibly help....

                          David,
Are the first two pictures in the locked position and the third in the unlocked? It is interesting that if so, it seems to rotate only 45 deg.?

Yes....That's all the movement I got out of it.

Does this look closer to yours? Remeber this is the passenger side. The piece where the rod goes through actually faces rearward.

Yes that does look like mine. I think that the drivers side faces forward. The 45 deg. rotation is throwing me a bit. I was thinking it had to go 90 degrees and when you removed the key in the locked position it would be horizontal. Maybe that's where I am going wrong, however the door wouldn't lock at 45 deg. with no movement left. I have somemore work to do to figure out this puzzle. Joe L. was right. It is not as straight forward as it seems. I know it has to work in conjunction with the manual lock on the door panel. Getting all that to work in sync it the trick I think. Sometimes I thnk that I must be making this seem all to difficult. Maybe not. My next challenge if I figure this one out wil be a rukic's cube. Thanks for your help David, I will let you know how I make out.,
                              David

I think it's time for the TDB administrators to consider putting a "Joe Lucia" button on this console, for quicker response to Joe! Or, put Joe on the payroll. God bless Joe for being so helpful.
