    53-55 Hardtop

Hi; I'm finishing up my hardtop and putting in a new rear plastic window. It's a Plasticon (Oval Window). The original rubber that goes around the plastic has a white lock strip. Does the slotted side go to the inside or the out side of the hardtop? Looks as if it could go either way. Thanks Bob

Where did you get the new back window and rubber? Did you refinish the headliner and if so how?

I put the newer, glue-in padded type in mine. Much quieter than the painted or glued vinyl.

I have an original plasticon top that I will probably restore and will need a back window and headliner.

Can you advise where you got your restoration hardtop parts.

Did you paint your top and if so with what type of paint?

            Thanks,

            Joe

Thanks Mike; It looks as if there is more rubber on the side without the strip. Less likely to blow out.......Bob

I had the original rubber. I made a template from the window opening using heavy cardboard. and cut the plastic to fit. Took quite a while to get it right. I talked to a guy back in Indiana who told me how to make the template, cut the plastic with a hot knife and how to put the rubber and window in the top using a piece of wire and sliding it around. (Mine is not in yet) The headliner is going to be leather Like Roy's. Paint is 2 part epoxy Pollo White

I'm taking Pic's as I go. Will post when finished....Thanks Bob

JC whitney among others sells the weatherstrip. Any upholstery shop can provide the lining material. I would paint the top with whatever your body is painted with, for the best match. I had a boat shop make my window.
