My 66 steering wheel is the standard molded plastic grained wheel. It is in perfect condition but it appears that the outer shiny skin is worn off, and the wheel is always a bit sticky especially in the warm weather no matter what I use to clean it. Is there a good finish to restore this wheel? Like a couple of coats of two part clear urethane paint? I will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks to all.

Re: 66 Standard Steering Wheel Finish
here's a tip I pulled off another classic car web blog. I can't vouch for the results, but have had very good luck with 3M products in the past. Hope this is helpful. Ridge.
re: Gm Steering Wheel StickyI was driving a 76 El Camino with the nastiest stickyboo wheel ever! I tried lots of stuff with poor results and much labor.
Then I got some 3M Adhesive remover (don't remember the number). Had that honey-coated creepy wheel clean and tack free in just an hour or two. Drove the truck for another 2 years and never had to repeat the application even during the summer heat here in Houston.Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .- Top
