    L-88 Invasion

Anyone's L-88 participating in the "L-88 Invastion" at Bloomington Gold? I'm interested in seeing these all grouped together this year. Going out there Friday afternoon for a couple of hours.

      Loren-

They're not stating how many will be there. Let's hope for at least an even dozen. Hopefully they'll run one or two of them in the back industrial park entrance road. They had a lotta cars last year bangin' the gears there.

Thanks to Kevin Mackay of Corvette Repair alone, 4 1967 L-88s and 8 or 9 68/69s are on the way from his shop. I would think 40 -50 will show up and all of them are REAL CARS. Mr. Bill Lock makes every effort that the cars for the special collection are the real deal, unlike other shows. Phil 8063

I was lucky to go to the opening last night. It is very cool. Nice movie with lots of 1967-69 clips of L88 racing, sound. Also lots of clips from Woodstock, bands ect. There are 11 67 L88s about 15 68s and 25 69s. I am going back today , taking my son today. I had a 67 judged for Survivor, nice experience...

Sounds like about the same number that showed up for "Operation Earthquake" in 1988. I am sure some of the same "dubious heritage" cars will be there again this year.

Wonder if the 11 mile red 67 will be there. Wonder if someone fixed the drivers door so it closes properly?
Like to see more engine shots from that one. Especially interested in the core support.

What about the old Burroughs/Krughoff/Miller white #88 car?

I think the red car is in your part of the world Michael. The #88 car was there in '88 but I do not know about this year. My little, short, fat, ugly, graying, balding mug was center front row in '88, but I will not be there this year.

Yup, that 11 mile red car is over in Orlando. Roger's Corvette Center.

I'm not sure who owns the white #88 car now.

The white car was there. I don't think the red car was, but I stand to be corrected by the C2 fans.

Had a hellva good time at the GOLD yesterday for about 4 hours in between the rain. 56 L-88's were there, mostly all C-3's. They offered a nice little booklet with info. about all the cars. The only sad thing about the booklet is that the pictures were in B&W instead of color.

Checked in at our NCRS booth and got the chance to meet and chat with the president of our Australian chapter, interesting fellow.

                          Good Day....Marty

Phil C.---which "other" shows are you referring to? I think you're painting with too broad a brush, as there are shows like Corvettes at Carlisle where Chip and Lance have always made a very, very significant effort to get real cars with pedigrees that are/were no-doubters.

The restoration of the white 67 L88, the Burroughs/Krughoff/Miller #88, was ALMOST complete, back to stock, factory fresh, boring original condition, when a long late night phone conversation between Burroughs and some guy that wouldn't give, up kinda changed the plan.
For the second time in the cars life, it was torn apart and converted to a race car.
Ask Burroughs about it. I'm sure it will produce a smile and a few good stories.

Not sure but I believe that was the beginning of a new trend. Restoring old race Corvettes back to race configuration.
