Yes, to remove the inner bearing requires, basically, the same tools used to remove the spindle are required. In fact, if you're going to replace the inner bearing, you might as well overhaul the whole assembly and replace the outer bearing, too.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

If you are just talking about the seal, it is not a major problem. BUT if the seal is leaking grease smart money would say that the bearing is also bad. I would seriously consider overhauling the assembly, either by sending it out or doing it yourself if you have the tools and are inclined to spend a long Saturday afternoon workingDick Whittington- Top
