I have a 1975 Non- tilt column that needs a new lower bearing. The bearing is at the lower end of the column and looks to be housed in a plastic sleeve, covered by a steel retainer and wire ring. Is there a GM part # still in service that will cover this application ? TIA, Craig

I THINK the part you need is GM #7805700. If so, it's still available from GM for about 35 bucks, GM list.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Part # help -column bearing
The bearing and hardware are all still available from GM and various Vette suppliers. The parts are the same for both standard (non-adjustable) and T&T columns.
The bearing is the number that Joe indicated.
Column Lower Bearing Adapter (plastic) GM 7805822
Column Lower Bearing Shield Wire Clip GM 7804439
Column Lower Bearing Shield GM 7804440
The standard column has a spring between the adapter and the shift tube.
Doc Rebuild lists it as 69-79 Thrust Spring 6521121.
