Just a note of explanation of my previous post for : TANSIX4
TAN was the only word used to describe your color on window stickers, at least in 1963. They may have expanded to the more market driven description in 1964. Also, I used to have BLUSIX3 in Illinois to answer the two most frequent questions I received at shows;
1) What color is it? (hard to distinguish from black in low light conditions)
2) What year is it? (few people know their Vette years)
Also, in Illinois, you needed one numeric digit in order to have it as a personalized plate. If it was all alpha characters it was considered a Vanity Plate which you paid a fee for annually. A personalized plate was a one time charge, then you renewed at the standard fee each year after that.
