    1972 door weather strip

Is original door weatherstrip one or two pieces? I understand the original weather strip is split at the under side (bottom) of the door and accordingly two pieces? What's correct?

The original door weather strip on my '70 is in two pieces. The seam is roughly in the center of the bottom of the door. As I recall, my '71 was the same way.

Tom are the two pieces butted tight or is there a gap? If a gap, how large is the gap?

      Thanks Tom.

I have seen some with an one-inch gap and some with two inches and more. Some are almost centered, while some are toward the front. The judging manual gives a good description of this. I judged several at Michigan this weekend that were one piece.

Jerry - I have a fairly detailed picture that I took during this year's judging retreat in Dallas when I was judging the 71 LS6, which received all the relevant survivor awards. I will post it later today as I have it on another computer.

Install the new weatherstrip in one piece. Before judging make a cut in the bottom to make it look correct with a new razor blade.

              Jerry,

I'll post a picture when I get home tonight.

How do like the fancy paint job?

Although the paint job is disgraceful, the weather strip and the gap appear to be original.
