    Clock and gauges handle color

Was the orange of the '63 clock and gauges handles fluorescent or plain orange?

    thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,
I used a flourescent color to match my 64 guage needles and clock hands. I used a small hobby airbrush and paint. It turned out nice.

HI rob Be very carefull with the clock face and all other gauge faces when cleaning. The gauge faces on 63's and I believe maybe other mid years were applied with water based paints. Don't ask howI know this. Just do not clean with any liqiud and brisk rubbing. Regards JR

Rob, I have to agree with Jim...be very careful.

If you want it done correctly OR you just want to discuss (send him an e-mail) I would like to highly recommend Harrison Speedometer, in Jupiter, FL.

I spent several hours at his shop couple days ago and I can not say enough about Bill, his workmanship, quality and process. HANDS DOWN it is second to none....

BTW-I have no absoluetly affiliation/connection with his shop or operation.

        Good Luck,
        David

          David;
Believe we are neighbors. Have seen your threads, recently one about gas and associated article in our Orlando Sentinel.

I tried to put a quartz kit in my 63 clock years ago. Clock ran fine, but I could never get the second hand "pinched" onto the shaft correctly and it would drag on the face and slip going uphill. I want to change my oil pressure gauge too, but it will require I transfer the face and needle from my current gauge to the other borden tube mechanism. And I just don't feel competent enough to tackle it.

Now, this shop in Jupiter, FL., is he the same fellow that had a booth at the winter meet? If you think he does good work, that's good enough for me.

            Stu,
Not sure we're close enough to be neighbors, and I've talked some about gas and prices, but nothing associated with an article in the Orlando Sentinel.

Regarding Harrison's, I can't say enough about his work. The extra lengths he goes to doing the best on each and every piece was very impressive to me.

I truly couldn't say.....we're only down in Jupiter for the month and then it's back home to NC, so not sure if he has been to meets or has a booth etc. But, In my opinion, if you have your gauges done by him, you won't be disappointed.

            Good Luck,
            David
