Wiper override wiring: 68, April build

Still trying to understand the wiring for the wiper override light in the center console. There is a single black wire (I presume this is a positive wire) to the console bulb and the light is grounded to the console itself.

The wiper override switch (beneath the steering column), as I understand it for an April 68 build, cuts the GROUND to the wiper motor. I am not understanding when/how the wiper override light in the center console is actuated by the wiper override switch. I checked the owner's manual and it doesn't help. The AIM doesn't give enough information to answer the question. Things seem to have change during the model year and changed completely for 69.

It should be noted that the wiper motor is a rebuilt original and the entire car has been re-wired with a Lectric Unlimited harness. The dash is buttoned up and we don't want to rip things apart to poke around. The passenger portion of the lower dash is open, which provides access to the bulb.

HELP ! Need to understand where the black wire to the wiper override bulb in the center console goes. Logically, it should be connected somehow to the wiper motor, so that when the override switch is used (cutting the ground to the wiper motor) it powers the wiper override light ont he center console. Other potential choices for the black wire is to the wiper control switch, the wiper relay etc. As mentioned, don't want to rip the dash apart again to figure it out.

    Thanks

I am posting this to raise Chuck's question again. I am experiencing a similar issue on my July build '68. The Wiper Override light in the console is always on as soon as I connect the battery. Turning the override switch on & off doesn't affect it. Need to trace the black wire to wherever it goes without tearing the harness apart -- AIM and Repair Manual don't offer much help.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Sorry I can't be of help. My car had been completely re-wired at the time of my question. The restorer fixed the problem but I never learned exactly what was wrong with the wiring. Clearly, there had been an error in how things were wired. Ultimately, my ignition switch burned out and there was a major effort to trace the wiring. The restorer was reluctant to inform me as to exactly what happened as he attempted to charge me for the ignition switch and associated labor. I never really got to the bottom of it.
