    71 BB Temp Switch

My LS5 has a bayonet type temp sender in the driver's side cyl head. There is a plug in the pass side head. I have seen older BB's with a temp sender on the pass head.

The reason I ask is that I have a wire coiled up by the heater box that has a black slip on female end that could be used on that type of temp sender. It that used for the CEC control or is it just....there ?

    Ken,

The passenger side TCS (temperature control switch) is a double spade connection that the green wire is hooked to. Your car should have it as factory installed.

The temp sender on the forward driver side cylinder head is for the temperature gauge. It was originally a pin terminal. Most, if not all, replacements for the last 30 years, or so, have a button head. Any other terminal configuration indicates a functionally incorrect temp sender.

A temperature SWITCH was mounted on the rear passenger side cylinder head. This switch used blade connectors mounted at a 90 degree angle. This switch was part of the TCS component of the CEC emissions control system. Many folks disabled this and that may be why yours is missing.

        Warren, Joe:

Thank you, correct as always! I actually routed through "my box" of old parts and found the old sender. I did a valve job on it years ago and must have removed it. It's a process, but I am getting closer...

        Regards,

        Ken
