Does anyone know if the mount for the generator to the manifold is a two piece mount (plate and brace). Does it allow for front to rear adjustment to align pulleys? Thanks, Susan

Re: '58 Generator bracket mount
Hi Susan, what is the Vin number of your 58? Does it have the hood support on the passenger or driver side of hood. Both have different generator mounting methods. The alignment of the belts is determined by the pulley offset, the backing plate and 'U' shaped mount, all must match the particular style, early or late 58, simple huh? Early 58's have just a 'U' bracket and a heat shield bolted directly to the exhaust manifold, while later 58's have the 59 style plate, 'U' bracket, offset pulley etc.

Re: '58 Generator bracket mount
Susan, remember to use Clem Z's home made alignment tool of a 24 inch piece of 1/4 or 5/16 rod with a 6 inch bend for a handle. Lay across the generator pulley with the handle touching the side of the generator pulley to the water pump or crank pulley. If aligned the rod will stay in the grove, if not the rod touches the wall of the far pulley. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter
