    Re: 1956 engine problem

    Michael,
The engine has a fresh rebuild so I do not think cam and lifter wear are an issue. I am using solid lifters so what concerns me is that the drivers side oils great out of the push rods but no oil appears to be getting to the passenger side top end.
I do want to thank everyone for their continued responses on this issue, it helps to have some fresh perspectives.

    Steve

Three things are necessary to make the '55-'56-ONLY oiling system work; the flat on the rear cam journal, a correctly-oriented '55-'56-only distributor housing with the partial annulus, and either a correct '55-'56-only rear cam bearing with two output holes or a '57-up rear cam bearing with the single hole enlarged to a slot so it feeds both holes in the block.

Since you're only getting oil to the driver's side, I'd suspect the orientation of the distributor housing, blocking the passage to the passenger side lifter oil gallery. All 56's had solid lifters.
