Bushing Kit and High Capacity Transmission Pan

Hello, New here, first post, I have a '70 LS5 coupe and I need to replace suspension bushings and wonder if by NCRS standards can I use the better quality bushings that are avaialble and if so, can you point me in the right direction for purchase?

In addition, can I put on an aluminum high capacity transmission pan and not lose points?

If by "better quality bushings" you mean polyurethane bushings, the answer is that the use of these is detectable and will undoubtedly result in loss of points in NCRS judging. Beyond that, I absolutely do not recommend the use of polyurethane bushings on a Corvette. You will end up with a harsher, more squeak-prone ride. Forget them. GM NEVER, EVER used polyurethane bushings on a Corvette.

As far as the transmission pan goes, I fully expect that you'll lose points for such a pan if it's detected during judging. Since this sort of change is pretty easily detectable with just a glance under the car, I think you can be pretty sure it would be detected.

Thanks Joe, That settles it then, OE bushings and pan. That's what I needed to hear.

Also realize that there are replacement rubber bushings and "much more correct" reproduction bushings. Just buying rubber bushings doesn't necessarily get you "all the points."

          Jeff -

You want the "correct" upper control arm bushings with 1/4" of rubber exposed past the small end of the outer shell - most of the vendors have them, but ask first.

Thanks John, I'll be sure to check for that before ordering.
