    '62 power windows question?

    Hi,
I did a search, but found nothing.
My '62 JG says "They operate with the ignition in the on or off position" but mine work at all times including at LOCK?
I checked the wiring diagram, and the windows get power directly from the battery terminal on the starter solenoid, nothing goes through the ignition switch etc...

    Thanks,

    Paul

On a 62 ignition switch there are only 3 positions off(lock), on, and start. As you correctly noted PW feed is hot at all times so they will operate independent of ignition switch.

Thanks for the reply David, but the '62 ignition switch does have LOCK, OFF, ON, START and thats why I wanted to be sure... Maybe the next edition could just say "power windows operable at all times independent of ignition switch"?

      Thanks,
      Paul

        Re: '62 power windows question?

Hmm thought only had 3 positions. Anyway internally it only switches 12 volts on to switched circuits and to solenoid in start position. hope this helps.

          '62 power windows question?

Paul - Do you have a copy of the C1 Operations & PV Manual and have you reviewed that rascal? Also, if you follow your wiring for about 90 seconds, you will find that circuit is hot 24 hours a day unless the 40 amp breaker on the firewall trips or the battery is unhooked.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated.
I have the AIM, ST-12 and JG, but no Operations & PV? One more to add to the list I guess...
As mentioned I had checked the diagram, I though maybe I was missing something.

            All the best,

            Paul
