    Parts For Sale Section

Since I just answered this post, why not a pole?

How many members would like to see a "For Sale" section on this site, broken down by generations?

I think it could be a good idea and may be down the road this forum may do it but now it would conflict with the Driveline. What will happen to they Driveline?

            Re: Parts For Sale Section

Team CAmaro and Team CHevelle both have a seperate for sale section for members only and a different section for viewers. Listings are free and I have had very sucessful luck selling and buying parts. Their format is the same as our new board, so I don't think it would be hard to get it started and would be an assett for our members.

I see I'm in the minority, by far. I just ENJOY getting that DRIVELINE every other month. It's like a trip to Carlisle. I do understand how others feel though, and could certainly accept a change.
                Regards,
                Alan

It is like a trip to Carlisle, three weeks after it closed. I get my driveline 3 to 4 weeks after some folks.

                      Re: Parts For Sale Section

I think that the ease of posting and searching online and the ability to post/view pictures of the parts will generate a higher volume of buyers and sellers than the Driveline. That helps everyone.

                        Re: Parts For Sale Section

I am definately a participant in the current world of online buying and selling and there is a place for it.
But I by far more enjoy going to swap meets and car shows to find the bargins and most important to see and interface with old friends, new friends and others.
I see the online world as a faceless place to buy and sell.
It has helped turn our HOBBY into a lucrative business and along with that, he fun and human interaction is falling by the wayside.
Online sales on the Forum will continue this trend.
                        my 2 cents.

I agree that Driveline is interesting reading but not very good in terms of buying cars or parts. Never seem to get it early enough to get the deal before it's sold!

I would hope the quality of any for sale items would be much higher than Ebay, members only ads and buyers, hopefully we would get comments on for sale items, good or bad! The Driveline has always been a cut above other for sale pubs due to the membership that submits them. Let's keep improving the hobby, sharing ideas and parts, but with honesty and a shared feeling of helping each other in our hobby.

I do not wish the demise of the Driveline either AND I can think of a dozen reasons and ways why it absolutely would continue on, in fact even stronger. I doubt you could put those who are not currently on the net at a disadvantage. The only people that are not on the web are those who choose not to be. My Dad (Vincent Platania) www.wwiimemorial.com who turned 88 years old this month and served 228 consecutive days of combat duty in various parts of Europe during WWII is on the computer daily.

The only real disadvantage out there is the ability of someone of modest income to enter into this hobby. There is an old saying that goes you get good by giving good. You can attract more members by providing better (ie more up to date) services. This board was a great start. An online classified is a natural progression.
