      Re: For Sale Section/Forum

Something very interesting is happening with this thread. It has been viewed nearly 1600 times in the last day. I opened it thinking it would lead to a parts for sale section/forum. I suppose more then a few others did also. Is it time yet? If this site is for the use of members my vote would be why not.

Positives would far out weigh negitives.
I am glad this site has moved from the 80's to the 90's, the improvements that has been done are great. Now lets continue to improve the NCRS community, this club and its legacy will grow and prosper with inclusion. Just look how many car associations judge similar to NCRS when it was not long ago, this new and groundbreaking style of judging was thought to be overkill. Lets get back to the cutting edge.
          Respectfully submitted, Harold

            Re: For Sale Section/Forum

Count me on the 'go for it' side (it is after all the 21st century...), but keep the Driveline for those who prefer to dig through the hard copy ads. My Driveline is basically useless to me as it never seems to arrive in a timely manner, and by the time I go line-by-line through the ads and call a seller, the items are usually sold.
Congrats on the updated format. I found the old format to be antiquated and rarely visited the forum, let alone posted. I now visit daily and have a much better feel of the NCRS community.
            Cheers!
            Jeff

I too would love to see a For Sale section online for members. I think members would be a lot more honest than some of the E-Bay people. Also usually by the time I get my driveline al the good stuff is gone. Thanks, Mike

I would at the very least we should have a parts wanted section for those times you are up against the wall. It would serve this community rather than EBAY.

I also saw it posted elsewhere that this forum would become just like other sites such as Corvette Forum.
My question is ... Can't we be better?

I am for the for sale section. Most things I am looking at in the Driveline are already sold.

I believe a members only for sale section would be great. Allowing business that support the driveline advertise would also be a nice addition allowing them to announce sales etc.

                          Well someone is buying them

The prime arguments for online sales seem to be: No one reads the Driveline and everything is sold when I call. Second first, this will also happen online if not sooner and completely eliminate the non PC users in the Society First second, If they are sold then someone must be reading the Driveline! The problem seems to be supply and demand. There are more of us then parts. This is why Ebay prices seem so far out of wack. Remember the vast majority of our members do not use this forum. Eric

When I was looking for parts I would call as soon as I received my Driveline. Some guys would laugh and tell me they sold them weeks ago. Just my experience.

There's never going to be a 100% equally fair system for both sides of this, but I would argue it is more fair that everyone has instant access to an item for sale (Internet forum) vs the people who happen to get the Driveline a few weeks/days before others get it, giving those people almost exclusive access to parts for sale.

Some will say that not all members want to or know how to use the internet... but, IMO, that is their choice, and not something forced upon them...

Again, I dont think either idea is exactly perfect, but the Internet forum option seems more reasonably fair, at least to me.

On the flip side, remember that just because people can list things on the Internet Forum, certainly doesn't mean the Driveline becomes obsolete. Because for every BUYER that refuses to use the Internet, there is a SELLER that will refuse to use the Internet, meaning that his ad will only show in the Driveline.
