Mike - I read your article on the Restorer CD - very neat stuff. Could this rebody be done about as easily on a C5 donor car? Isn't the C5 wheelbase and width a closer match to the C1 than the C4?

as far as widths go, the c-4 dash pad neded 3/8" removed from each side to mate to the c-1 windshield. as far as wheelbases go, i had to move the c-1 wheel openings 6" closer together(the rear 1/4 panel had to be centered 4" foreward of its original position and the front side panel had to be centered 2" rearward) to accomidate the c-4 stock wheelbase. can't recall for certain but seem to recall the c-1 wheelbase is 102" and the c-4 wheelbase is 96". don't have clue about the c-5 wheelbase but would suspect its similar or identical to theat of the c-4.mike

looks like using a c-5 floorpan/frame would negate the need top re-position the c-1 wheelwells but if one were to use the c-5 wheels, they may well interfere with the c-1 quarter panels . it'd be a trial and error experiment. go for it and write an article.mike

A more involved alternative would be to stretch the width of the body an inch and a half on each side, probably just inside the fenders both front and back. Then you would have to do some surgery on the bumpers to widen them as well.

Might also want to take a look at Tray Walden's Street Shop in North Alabama. Quality operation.
