I saw a post earlier today about 'sloppiness' in the vent window mechanism. My driver's side window has free-play, but it is also hard to turn for the last quarter-inch before closing. Rebuild the mechanism, or is there another issue? Thanks.

Re: 67 wing windows revisited
Another possible cause for being hard to turn for the last quarter inch is if the window does not fit properly in the rubber weather stripping. One of my vent windows has this problem and the window sort of "pops" as it seats when being closed.
This is just another thing to check, but if you also have a lot of free play you may as well rebuild the regulator.- Top

Re: 67 wing windows revisited
Larry,
Try a light coat of this stuff on the weatherstipping:

Worked on mine for that last hard quarter turn.
Also great for a tach/speedo cable lubricant.

Larry,
I put up the post earlier in the week. I have found excellent articles from the Restorer from spring of 1990 and 1998. They give detailed procedures
on repairing or rebuilding the vent window with pictures.
