I'm always mentioning the word "design" meaning what a part looks like, like many here that post pic's to show others what a part looks like is what is great about this forum. Many people when buying parts depend on numbers , and that's great, but again if you don't know what the part should look like you can be wasting your money ( like to many repro's out there) These two Dist is a good example, both have the same # for a 55 Corvette but don't look the same so now we use the words (design and first, second or third )
Top one is dated 54 bottom 55 so we have a design difference or called a first design and second design, these words are seldom used. The word early-Mid-late are used more often but don't have the meaning of the word design. Using this word we know were talking fiscally the parts is made different.
So I use words like first and second but also the word design. I hope this makes some sense to people.
