    Re: Mike, they're in Philadelphia

    Hey Mike,

Did you see the cover car on the current Summitt catalog? A 57 Fiesta wagon that is more beautiful than any wagon I have ever seen, EVER! One of these days I will find a Fiesta or Buick Caballero wagon to biuld, but they are getting harder and harder to find.

    Regards, John McGraw

That '57 Fiesta IS Outstanding. I've used Nel Metal Restoration, excellent chrome, good communication & pretty fast turnaround.

            Re: Frankford Plating

Years ago in Denver I was having a "Classic Chrome" shop do the chrome for my 57 corvette. He was also going to polish all the stainless I had taken off the car for me. When I went there to see why it was taking so long I saw a dirt bike in the corner of the shop. Under the crankcase of the bike was my lower piece of door stainles thrown on the cement floor catching the drips that leaked out. I went ballistic at the guy. Still took him over a year but I finally got all my pieces back and never went back to him again.

yeah, i got the Summit catalog couple weeks ago.i too agree the 57 olds and buick wagons were design winners. mine started out as a base model 88 sedan(i wanted the sedan so as to avoid the rattles the 4 door hardtop wagons posses). it was built with radio and heater and that was it. now a J-2 with wonderbar radio option and power steering and courtesy lites. i'm gonna pig-out this old wagon like Bratz does with his 55. Just can't see myself installing a pair of God-awful mud flaps though. There is a 57 olds fiest for sale, with factory AC in one of the olds clubs mags i get. think they wanted 10K for it. seem to recall it was in the pacific NW. if you'd be interested, i'll try to find the ad. mike

I had the same experience about a year ago with an air cleaner lid. Waited forever and was promised the silkscreen would be salvaged. To make a long story short, the silkscreen was safe, but it's because Jon welded up the bottom during the chroming process and sent the finished product back to me with about 1/8" of extra welding slag around the entire lid...lesson learned.

                        Re: Frankford Plating

I see no one addressed the issue of letting this outfit continue to advertise in the Driveline. Why is that? Since the NCRS members get to vote for their representatives, why not get to vote out an advertiser who repeatedly bashes or abuses our members? I realize there are 2 sides to every dispute, and, if the advertiser in question wishes to respond, then let's hear from him & also hear that he made everything right with the customer-but I doubt that'll happen.
Maybe there should be a complaint standard, such as the BBB, and if an advertiser reaches X # of complaints, then AMF from the Driveline.
I think most members assume the Driveline advertisers are vetted, no pun intended, by the NCRS and are upstanding business people.
                        What are YOUR thoughts?

sounds like I should stay with Paul's...unless someone can recommend a good plated on the west coast...

I think that NCRS should require a performance guarantee of all Driveline vendors for any NCRS member that uses the vendor's services or buys the vendor's product. The vendor could quote (in print) whatever timeline and price he likes, but if he doesn't live up to his claims, and the NCRS member can prove it with written documentation, then give the vendor the boot from advertising in the Driveline. The old car hobby is expensive (the old joke: the only way to make a small fortune in old cars is to start with a large fortune)and old Corvettes especially so. A little control on what those dollars actually get would be a good thing.
