Graeme from OZ, we are only supposed to consider Corvettes C4 and older on this site, but since you have such an interesting name, and I have the information at hand, I'm going to give you a freebie...

Maybe this is not the easy answer you expected...if I were building an LS7, I would have to buy the complete Service Manual for myself. From the 2006 Covette Service Manual, Engine Mechanical - 7.0L, page 6-539:

    10. Install the bearing cap (103), bearing (104), and bolts (102).

    Tighten

    10.1 Tighten the bolts a first pass to 20 N-m (15 lb-ft).

10.2 Tighten the bolts a final pass to 75 degrees using the J45059 (GM special tool).

Nice to hear from ya', Graeme. I hope my info was helpful...torque "by degrees" is not a familiar concept to me. Congrats on owning a Z06 "Downunder".

It sounds like one of those designs that stretches the bolt beyond the elastic limit.

Duke, is it possible the tensioning procedure as simple as 75 degrees rotation after the first stage torqueing to 15 ft-lbs? I'm wondering if you can just use a machinist's protractor if you don't want to buy the special tool.
