Could some one tell me what is the correct name for the solinoid that goes in the transmition and were can I find one.

Rob,
The switch for the transmission is available on eBay on a regular basis. I suspect that some of the catalog vendors "may" have it as well. Search "TCS switch."
I swiped the pic below from ebay. You need the pin connector.

Also the GM part number is 3961567. The one in pic above is the current service replacement version. The original version, to the best of my knowledge, had white/off white in the area where this one is black.Comment
