This is the first I've heard about the change from "Concours" to "Open" class...terrific and logical change. Never did like the name "Concours"...it was very confusing for many as it didn't, truly, describe the type of car being judged in that class. I knew there had been discussions over the "Concours" name but wasn't aware there was going to be a name change. Kudos to those involved. Makes much more sense, now. Thanks for listening!!
      Leif,

I have been working on this since the day I was placed in this position. It was the #1 priority in my mind. Getting Roy Sinor as the first Open Class team leader was the Cherry atop of the Sundae. He has been a big help and will make this class grow as we continue on. It was announced formally in one of my Judges office messages in the Restorer along with at the National Convention this year.

It is still a work in process since we only have the start of our program up and running at this time. As soon as we can get more time with IT we can take the next steps. One this we do need is to get the word out to the rest of the Corvette world so we start to see some of the cars that haven't been participating in the past!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

      Joe

          Hey Tom,
be thankful it's here, now.. And you can finally give your complaining about the club a rest..
And, since we have many members in their 80s still coming out and enjoying what the club has to offer, hop in your 56 airbox and drive it down to Frisco.. I've been seeing photos of it for years, and would love to see it in the plastic! And meet you. Do as Gary C suggested, and come on down!

No, I doubt it. Too much damage has been done over the years.

                Ian,

Some NCRS members will confirm this. I made an attempt to enlighten the Corvette Forum folks about the changes. I even asked them what they would like to see in a new Open Class before Roy and I spent most of the time working on it. All I got from them were complaints about how they were treated by 1 guy back in 1988, 1990, etc. When I told them I was a member back then, was still a member today, and have met some of my best friends through this club, they went silent. It would be great to get some of them over here to see how wonderful a Regional or National event is, but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Like everything else in life, if you go through every day with a closed mind you'll miss out on a lot of wonderful things. For those who actually attend our events, I'll try to improve the experience to the best of my ability. It's up to the membership to carry this through and spread the word. It will also require the membership to spread the current spirit and culture, not the past spirit and culture that drove the wedge between the NCRS world and the rest of the Corvette world. It won't happen overnight, but it can happen for sure.

Give it a try over there and let me know how that goes. I'd be interested in your results. Perhaps they did or didn't know who I was and that influenced their responses.

                Regards, Joe

My suggestion is to spend much less time on the Corvette Forum.......lots of negativity and angry people there.

I go over there every day (C1-C2) - to see what cars are for sale and what parts are wanted or available. Never go to the general discussion area.

I find that most people over there are speaking from a position of ignorance. Happy to jump on the bandwagon and give their 2ct without basis. Everyone who made a negative statement about NCRS, and said they were an NCRS member, had not judged or been judged at the Regional or National level in the past 30 years. How can that person have any idea of what goes on, and what the benefit is of being a member. You get out of it what you put in! Negative = Negative! Positive = Positive!

                        I rest my case!

Joe- You should have pleaded insanity.

All kidding aside, allow me to express my sincere THANX for restructuring the Open Class... I'm sure you and Roy have been hard at work, attempting to work out the bugz.

Many of our members also appreciate your participation here on the TDB Forum. Itz a breath of fresh air to see the NTL interacting and helping... hope you continue with your 'Open Door' policy.

                          Respectfully,
                          Jack

Agreed Joe, and I also find those with thin resumes of participation in NCRS, no matter how long they have been members, are ones I do not listen to very often.
