    '64 water pump

Morning.....In regards to a '64 with a final build date of April 30, should a 250hp require the 3782608 pump to have a date on the casting? Is that the correct pump for this application?
    Thanks
    Ric

The GM #3782608 is the correct casting waterpump for your application.

Dating for the '608' waterpump began in March, 1964. So, I think yours could go either way. Mostly, it would probably depend on the engine assembly date. However, If you could find a casting with a date consistent with your engine assembly date, that pump could have been installed on your engine.

Thanks for the info Joe, since it could be either date or no date I think I will go with no date then I don't need to find a very early pump. Do you know if these pumps had hex head bolts or slots on the back cover?

You do not know; how many none dated pumps were available to use beginning in March of 64. The pumps may have lasted for several later months. This is a good question for the j63/64 Judging group. Here are a couple photos of an undated 608 for 250/300 HP engine.

Thank you for the pics, answers the question about the bolts that secure the back plate. One more question, the nipple for the heater hose should it be a short or a long one for a '64 with A/C?
