Who do you recommend for purchasing the original style battery for a 1964 Corvette?
I am looking for your experiences with any recent purchase and vendors.

Note: A correctly sized DELCO replacement battery would loose 25% of Originality points. (Standard Deduction Guideline #2)

In your case: 6 point loss, as 25 Originality points assigned to "Battery and Caps". (out of 4500 total points in Flight Judging)

Restoration battery may/may not loose points vs SDG#2 criteria.

Something to consider: Number of judging points gained/lost vs cost delta of replacement DELCO/"restoration battery".

Other aftermarket batteries I have encountered have a part protruding from each side for the handle, etc. The tie down then won't fit properly down on the battery. Do people then trim that off?

Took a bit of time (about 3 months) and they don't always answer the phone, but IMHO a nice product. Battery, tar top, dating and shipping $400 then. No deducts at National or Regional. Received my battery shortly before the standard battery deductions were changed, so not sure I would do it again as the battery deducts are not as big of a hit.

Still glad I did it though.....looks great and battery still running strong.

FWIW I gave up on the reproduction batteries after the point deduction change. It’s now only 5 points if you have a Delco Group 24 battery. If you are looking for an original look you can buy a “topper” that looks great to 99% of the lookers for less than $30 and it fits directly over the Group 24 battery.
