    Tri-power fuel lines

Getting ready to install the fuel lines on my 67 L71.
After reading all of the leaking problems others have had, should I install flair gaskets on the lines or try installing the lines first and see if they seal?
The lines are steel, not stainless.
    Thanks, Herb

For new flare fittings tighten-loosen at least THREE times before finally tightening and pressurizing to check for leaks.

You can do the same for used pieces, especially if they are not the original mating pairs.

I think the "gaskets" are a last resort.

Absolutely use a five-sides "tubing wrench" to avoid buggering up the B-nuts.

I would add: Based on my experience that five-sided wrench is no place to cheap out. A quality tubing wrench is imperative for fuel and brake lines. There is a difference between big box store wrenches and professional quality wrenches.

As a tripower owner myself, I totally agree with the wrench issue...

I would also add one of the funniest Terry phrases he sent to me (and probably others)...

"the only thing worse than one Holley - is three Holleys" LOL

        thx,
        Mark

Thanks Duke, I will try that.
I do have a set of Matco tubing wrenches I will use.
I still do not have a definitive answer on if I can use the 3/4 groove distributor in my engine (427 - A97 casting date)
If any member knows, please let me know.
            Thanks, Herb

I recall John Hinckley addressed this issue long ago, and he said it was okay. Maybe someone else can confirm.

                Herb,

Go to Advanced Search and type this in to the first box exactly as shown (quotes and font case)
                "groove" AND "distributor"

then in the member box directly below it, type in:
John Hinckley...a popup window will show his name and membership number...click on it and then:
                click the search button.

i got 4 thread hits when I did it...

I don't know which one you need, but you can peruse them at you leisure...
