Tim,

I’m not very savvy about insurance terms. When you say that collision coverage covers the car while it is being transported, does that mean the basic NCM policy I have doesn’t protect my car if it’s being transported in a trailer, say to a judging meet? In other words, with my basic coverage I’m only protected if my car is being driven or parked?

State insurance laws affect insurance rates. In New Hampshire, as I understand, the laws are setup to help the owner. Meaning, rate increases are limited per year, etc. I have 3 Corvettes with NCM, one with a very high value. My annual rate is much lower than Massachusetts.

I have American Collectors for my 67 for thirty years with zero issues and zero claims. Just got an email they want pictures of the car and it's storage location as well as info on policies for the daily drivers. They also want to know if my wife drives the car- she doesn't, and a description of my usage of the car. Car is in winter hibernation so it's a pain.

They've never asked for any of this before. Wonder what's up ?.

My assumption would be that they want to see the condition of the car after thirty years. When I raised the agreed value on my '67 from $75000 to $100,000, they asked for fresh pictures of exterior, interior and engine bay, as well as, any awards the car had attained. They got about 40 pictures from me and had no problem raising the agreed value.

Here's a new development.

After asking questions and getting great responses from members who have insurance through NCM/American Modern, on December 18th, I signed up for NCM Classic insurance coverage for my 3 Corvettes and cancelled my policies with State Farm. I spoke with my State Farm representative before making the move to verify that my umbrella policy will cover the Corvettes insured by NBM which I was told yes, they will be covered.

TODAY I received a letter from State Farm saying they are cancelling my umbrella policy effective February 28, 2025.

In the 30 years that I've been with them, I have had one auto related claim from a backing accident that my daughter had 8 years ago when she was sixteen, one home owners claim for a new roof due to hail over 10 years ago and no speeding tickets for any of the covered drivers 1n my house hold for over 15 years!

So now I need to go shopping for an umbrella policy.

Similarly I had the same issue with SF a few years ago. Initially keeping their umbrella policy was not an issue..........but awhile later they cancelled it. Said I could NOT insure with NCM and keep their umbrella policy.

I changed my auto policies to $1MM liability (for not that much extra cost) and moved on with life.

I went in and spoke directly to my SF agent and asked why my umbrella policy was cancelled. I was told that that letter from SF to me was never supposed to be sent and the policy was not being cancelled.

Today in the mail, I received the SF umbrella policy payment statement for 2025 and the amount doubled in price?!?!.

You can't make this $#i* up.
