    1964 Corvette Tachometer stopped working

1964 Corvette RPM gauge / tachometer stopped working. Initially thought the cable broke. Replaced the cable and tach still does not register. Appreciate any thoughts as to what could be the issue....

    Thank you,

first I'd check that the tack drive gear within the distributor isn't stripped or the gear on the distributor main shaft gear isn't stripped. pulling the distributor out is easier than pulling the dash cluster out to repair the tack itself if the gears in the dizzy are intact. good luck, mike

So, with new cable installed to back of Tach, I put the distributor end into a "drill" and the tach moved accordingly. Does that mean the drive in the distributor is stripped / gone?

Recommended solution is to replace the whole distributor? or other.

        Thanks for the feedback.

It seems your problem is with the distributor. As Mike suggested the gear in the distributor is defective in some way.You will need to pull the distributor and have it repaired.
