    C4 AC Problem

The AC on my 96 seems to have suddenly stopped working. I put the system on "auto", selected the temperture, like I always do, and it blew air but it was not cold.

I also noticed that the radiator cooling fans did not come on when the engine was getting hot, which they normally would with the AC engaged.

If I read it correctly, the service manual says if there's an AC problem I should see a fault code on my display, but I don't see any.

    Thoughts? Thanks

    Pat,

IIRC, the driver's side fan should come on when A/C is on. If the left fan doesn't come on, swap the fan relays. Fan relays are on the driver's side of the upper radiator shroud housing.

If the fan comes on after swapping the relays. Then I'd replace both relays.

Cooling fans are designed to come on at 225 degrees engine temp.

    Good luck.

Thank you Gary, I'll take a look at that.

Thank you Dave for your response.

I did as you suggested and after holding down the fan arrows it did show "- 00". But when I released them and pushed and released the fan icon it showed "00".

I don't see a flashing LED, and the temperature in my garage was just below the outside temperature at that time (mid to upper 70s in garage, lower 80s outside).

        I will test the charge.

        Thanks for your help

Follow up: It was simply low on freon. Despite the fact that the display did not show that fault code, it was low and when brought up to specs AC works fine, pressure is holding, and cooling fans are functioning as they should. Thank all of you for your help.
