The upper spring cup is what is missing in your picture, as well. Who did this suspension refurbishment?

Peter, the stock bolt will likely be too short.

I have a brand new in the box pair of correct length rear spring bolts, nuts, and the heavy flat washers and a few extra spring cups. Email me or PM me with your shipping address and their yours. I bought a second pair by mistake when restoring my '65.

A quick visual check for proper rear ride height: when the car is sitting within factory specs, the half shafts are parallel to the ground (this minimizes u-joint wear). Your half shaft is canted downward significantly ==> ride height too high.

A second visual check: the spring bolt should not extend below the wheel. Compare Leif's car to yours. "Mechanics" sometimes try to compensate for a wrong spring rate or arch by using longer spring bolts. You can imagine the seat pucker factor during a blowout when a low hanging spring bolt digs into the ground.

In your case, a longer spring bolt was installed in an attempt to compensate for the wrong spring (and/or other geometry problems), yet the car still sits too high.

I’d bet someone bought the +1” spring, or bought an Eaton spring before they offered three versions and the spring wound up making the car too high. Leading to the purchase of the aftermarket, longer end bolts. Switching to the factory bolts may not return the car to the factory ride height. A different rear spring may be needed.

I'd bet you're right Gary. Using the same spring with shorter, factory bolts will raise the car even more.
