While the process of added editions to the existing master copy is not that difficult, it would have to be done within the context of maintaining the document protections and copyrights. The new version is protected with a unique password specific to each USB drive and is member unique and therefore traceable. Other protections are also in place so in short, the only way for it to remain up to date would be a process involving the return of the original USB for that purpose which was never part of the plan, nor do I think it work.
A subscription would be very challenging because the content is roughly 2 Tb in size which for many members would take forever to download. Copyright protection is also a problem with that method of access. Anything is possible. One idea was to produce this in "flipbook" format which is what you see when looking at the individual magazine on the NCRS site. However, that format is limited to file size below the current version as well as the number of pages. The costs associated for that format option (hosted) is also a factor.
There really is no equivalent to this from the standpoint of the content going back to the founding of the NCRS organization, articles many of which were written by the founders, and thereafter, all of the deep knowledge from people that really knew these cars and literally grew up owning them.
Admittedly a long answer to a simple question.
