    '66 Trip Odometer numbers wheel

Help! Starting to restore my instrument cluster on my '66 that hasn't been on the road since the mid-70s. Upon disassembly, both the odometer and trip number wheels are trash. Numbers are gone and flaking off. I can find sources for the Odometer but not the Trip odometer. Anyone have suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
    Tim

    It's GM part 6405724

Zip had them as part D-793, give them a call just to verify. Dr. Rebuild had them in the past

Also try Corvette Specialties | Corvette Hubcaps | Corvette restoration Parts (csofmdwest.com) They restore clusters, even though they indicate out of stock, they may have a source.

Thanks Harry. checked with all of the above and no joy. Stopped being made a couple years ago.

      Anyone have one out there?
Is there a way to make one using an Odometer? The number wheels appear to be the same size.

I looked at both of my old odometers, does not look promising to swap wheels.

Give Dave Sokolowski a call. He may have a nice replacement.

            Tim,

I may have an NOS one, not sure if it is an odometer or trip number wheel. I'll look and PM you this weekend. Any luck in getting your firewall insulation?

            James

Thanks for looking James - fingers crossed!!

So far no luck on firewall insulation. CC backordered since January. Now they are saying mid October, but not holding my breath! Getting real close to doing interior work. Tim

                Tim,

I only have the odometer number wheel that I bought from Corvette Specialties in 2004. Wish I could have helped you out.

                James

I suggest you contact Corvette Specialties of Maryland West and see if or when they might be getting the trip wheel back in stock. They are still selling the main odometer wheel separately, so it’s just the trip wheel they are out of.

Gary - contacted them and they have none for sale. Was told the trip odometer hasn't been produced for a couple years.

What's wrong with a good used one?

Re: '66 Trip Odometer numbers wheel

The Trips in this picture are all AC Delco sold by your GM dealer. The ones on the bottom are originals from the C2 era. The ones on the top are original replacements but should not be judged as originals because of the size of the letters. They are much too small.
Reproductions sold today are like the replacements and should not be confused with originals. The supplier of replacements has no dates on delivery at this time.

                            Joe,
Just to clarify...the ones on the bottom are original and the ones on the top are reproduction?

The ones on the bottom are originals from the C2 era and the ones on the top are late replacements sold by AC Delco from GM dealers.

So none in the picture are replacements like being sold today!
