You will note that Wayne's record-setter is HEAVILY modified to enable the speed and stability required to break the record.Last edited by Dave B.; June 4, 2025, 01:15 PM.Dave

Technically, it starts to lift at a very low speed but is only significant at higher speeds. I can feel the front end get lighter (even in my big block) by the time I get to 40 mph. At freeway speeds, it's uncomfortably floaty, like driving a boat.

As many of you know, after having my ‘65 Corvette land speed car at the National in Vegas, we headed straight to the El Mirage dry lake to run last weekend’s S.C.T.A. (Southern California Timing Association) event. I’m happy to report that the spit shine we had on that car in Vegas is long gone! The car is a dusty/dirty mess. ; ) I made two passes last Sunday. On the first pass, I bumped my current 204.238 mph record to 206.292 mph. In the afternoon, I let it fly, and the car went 209.794 mph.
This YouTube link has a pretty cool view of that run:
I’m headed off to Bonneville to try to bump my current 236.278 mph Bonneville record over the 250 mark. I’ll be running the car there next weekend on 9/28-9/30.
