      The July 2025 issue of Corvette Magazine has an excellent article on Wayne and his crew in their quest to go over 250 mph in 2025.

        perhaps KC strawmyre and Dave gray can bring their 56 corvette that ran bonneville to the tune of 208 mph. two salt flat cars at a ncos national convention would be a first. mike

            If i recall correctly, I thought the front end of a midyear starts to lift around 150mph
            Technically, it starts to lift at a very low speed but is only significant at higher speeds. I can feel the front end get lighter in my big block C2 by the time I get to 40 mph. At freeway speeds, it's uncomfortably floaty, like driving a boat.

            You will note that Wayne's record-setter is HEAVILY modified to enable the speed and stability required to break the record.

              As the old saying goes, even a rock will become airborne at some speed. When I took my stock 2012 ZR1 to the Texas Mile, it did get floaty and light around 180 MPH, but I pushed it on so I could get my 200 MPH Club T-shirt and stickers......

                As many of you know, after having my ‘65 Corvette land speed car at the National in Vegas, we headed straight to the El Mirage dry lake to run last weekend’s S.C.T.A. (Southern California Timing Association) event. I’m happy to report that the spit shine we had on that car in Vegas is long gone! The car is a dusty/dirty mess. ; ) I made two passes last Sunday. On the first pass, I bumped my current 204.238 mph record to 206.292 mph. In the afternoon, I let it fly, and the car went 209.794 mph.

                I’m headed off to Bonneville to try to bump my current 236.278 mph Bonneville record over the 250 mark. I’ll be running the car there next weekend on 9/28-9/30.
