65 Turn Signal Flasher - Tung Sol 323

Hi, I am trying to correct my 65 car's turn signal flasher back to OEM. It has a 552 aftermarket flasher can and it works fine. I found a couple old Tung Sol 323 flasher cans. When I replace the aftermarket unit with the Tung Sol 323, the turn signals just stay on/lite but do not flash. It is possible that both 323 turn signal flashers are bad. Is there any other possible cause that I may be overlooking for this behavior (given it is such a simple circuit design)?

    Charles,
Are you using stock type 1157 incandescent bulbs?

If you use the 323 flasher, you must also use 1034 bulbs in the front parking and tail lights. Try that and see if your flasher will work.

The flasher changes with back up lights. You may need a different flasher.

Thanks for your post. They are incandescent bulbs probably form the early 80's when the car was restored. I will check the bulbs. Thanks...

Thanks Dave, you are correct. I believe I need the 224 not the 323. I have the Oct 64 Parts Catalog and it is there a few lines down from the 323 as a "2 bulb" flasher. The old eyes just didn't see it. I have one on the way and will try it next week. Have a great weekend everyone!
