    2) much better to let the membership speak for itself rather than speculate and make decisions without input.
    3) one can either focus on important outcomes and work through constraints to get there, or wallow in the challenges and stagnate.
    4) I propose a third question. Would the membership reallocate funds from activities and things that do not benefit all to create something that will benefit every member around the world every day now and forever? That would be a "winner" My understanding is less than 200 members regularly use the TDB (somebody knows the actual number). Not all members are computer jocks or even computer literate in some cases. Not all members look to others for help in an electronic cyberspace type environment.
    5) What is the plan for the website and forum? Keep it in current dysfunctional state forever?
    6) there are countless forums on the internet including corvetteforum that run very successfully without participants paying a penny. Pretty sure that only happens if you have advertisers and they pay the forum owners. We don't have ads cluttering up our TDB and I for one like it like that. you telling me NCRS with its dues paying members can't figure out a solution?

Surveys are usually avoided by organizations that fear the results. Is that what NCRS is? I hope not.
Keith - see some comments I have on your observations above

Well stated Mark, the TDB (and no disrespect to the moderators) is a novelty extra for me and many other members who hardly ever come here. IMO and in my experience as a member, the meat and potatoes of NCRS are the chapters and chapter events, the regionals, and the nationals. That is what I joined for, not a TDB. I want to have my car judged, be a judge, learn about the cars as often as I can from the experts in judging schools, technical sessions at the events, read the manuals, etc. And of course, without personal interaction and long term friendships at all the events, NCRS would be nothing at all special. My dos centavos.

        Mark,
Gotta use more expansive thinking and strategic vision. This is about much more than a technical bulletin. I have to imagine EVERY single chapter has some platform for communication outside of the NCRS website ...usually Fakebook. I imagine because I do not Fakebook. Dues paying members should have means to communicate beyond just technical issues. Bringing all those chapters under one forum with subforums for each chapter are just one way to bring the NCRS community together. This has nothing to do with being a "computer jock"...you are dramatizing with that comment and cyberspace...diversions from the point here.

The irony of this very thread having no other place to be than a technical forum illustrates my point perfectly.

ads? I don't see any ads on any other internet forum I frequent. also a non issue.

Again...focus on the big picture and not all the reasons for not doing something. Ya want to make NCRS more "competitive"? Build it and they will come. Give people more and more reasons to be here. Narrow thinking and resistance to change are suffocating NCRS.

Edit to add: What percentage of members have the time and money to travel to all the events? Fund the website and forum with some of that money.

And how do you communicate with other members? Does your chapter have a facebook page? I don't have time and money to go to events. As a dues paying member I should not be excluded from chapter communication due to no venue provided by NCRS.

Remember the debacle a year or so ago. The NCRS IT guys said they do not go near Fakebook. There are good reasons for that.

            Keith,

If you have a problem with NCRS IT functions, then get involved and volunteer. NCRS IT can always use good help.

As far as communicating with your fellow Chapter members, that's a Chapter decision, not NCRS's.

Gary, I could not agree more with you. A Chapter Webmaster needs to be aggressive.

                Harry,

Doesn't have anything to do with a Chapter webmaster being aggressive.

                It's all about Member Privacy.

Gary, all I was suggesting was the Webmaster should keep his website current to NCRS and Chapter Events.

Nothing worse than a stale website.

                    Harry,

Couldn't agree more. You know as well as I do, Chapters are all volunteer organizations. And it's getting harder and harder to find anyone that wants to volunteer or help do anything these days.

All volunteer organizations, including NCRS can always use more volunteers to keep their organizations moving forward.

Yes, we have a Facebook page, but hardly anyone uses it. We communicate by having meetings, parties, lunches, tech sessions, helping members prep cars for judging, and judging. We call each other when we have questions or issues with our cars, we sometimes just call, text, or email each other to chat about car stuff. Without personal interaction, none of us would be interested in NCRS. If you rely solely on digital interactions, and can't attend regional or national events, I am afraid you are missing the best of NCRS.

                        Well said Michael!

I'm guilty of detouring this thread from its initial intent of Mike Ingham's announcing his candidacy for NCRS President

                        Therefore I'm closing this thread
