I treated my manifolds with caylx with some black paint to kill the silver look about 30 years ago. They still look good with a natural cast look. Drove the 72 on Road Tour to the Mobile National (1300 miles) and had the judged with no deductions for the manifold finish.

When I judge, I check manifolds for Calyx by swiping my finger. I like and use the product but it will cost points.

        Mark,
After long use and lots of hours, the greasey film is gone and the color looks very natural.

Looks nice Ed, how did you apply the calyx and paint? Afraid I'll make them look worse trying to include the black paint, leaning towards light wire brush and roll with that. Appreciate all the insights on this thread and the great examples.

FWIW>Had my original ex. manifolds(L75) 66 Coupe ceramic coated. (Like Leif's above). Came out nice
but a little to light in color for my liking. Put Calyx over the ceramic coat and came out perfect for my OK.
Holding up very nice. Picture below. Thanks>Larry

I put a small amount of black paint in the caylx container and mixed it in. I used a toothbrush to apply it. Try it in a small area to see if you like the effect. It does take some heat cycles to make the greasy film go away. I have had my 72 Judged over 13 times, most of them at Regionals and Nationals. If I remember correctly, I did gets some minor finish deductions many years ago.

I have been considering CERACOAT for my next set of manifolds, has anyone tried it?
The biggest issue with CERACOAT is the prep (acetone bath, 120# garnet blasting), however if prepped correctly it seems as though it would last a lifetime.

I have it on several rifles.
I've heard of using it on manifolds but haven't tried it.
