    2025 Regional Greenville Convention Center

You may have heard rumors that the CCNCRS was going to host a Regional at the Greenville Convention Center March 2025. The chapter was pursuing that possibility, however, with the rent raising $6k to a whopping $18,000 it has become a financially impossible event to manage. Sorry, but a Regional at the GCC is not going to happen.

Very sad, but the Arizona Chapter is working on a spring 2025 regional meet in the Phoenix area.

Why not hold the event outside or even under a tent ?

Is it possible to combine with another chapter like the SENCRS to host an event?

          Keith,

There are two important elements to conducting Regional Events; 1) money such as donations and sponsors and 2) volunteers.

Both are getting very scarce and hard to come by! Not many want to donate/sponsor and almost no one wants to volunteer except for the core NCRS members that have been volunteering for years.

          Just sayin',

            Very true.

For our last Regional in 2018, getting volunteers was far more challenging than in our previous events.
It's part of the reason, possibly the biggest one, we have not planned another.
And, with 3 of the largest/most popular catalog companies combined under one umbrella (Paragon/CC/Zip), there are fewer individual sources of money.

Yes, times have changed rapidly in our club too. It seems impossible that my chapter could have put on a regional just 13 years ago. Today we hardly have enough volunteers for a one car judging meet. And it was also an outdoor venue in 2010, which would not fly today.

Re: 2025 Regional Greenville Convention Center

                Sorry to hear about Greenville.

There are definitely challenges to much in life today, but the St. Louis and Kansas City Chapters are partnering to host a regional here in the Show Me state in July 2025. Knowing we needed to find an indoor venue to host what will likely be the last feeder event prior to the September National Convention in Las Vegas, we spent several months searching across the state of Missouri for an affordable, but appropriate, venue. It is insane how even the simplest venues demanded outrageous rents and service charges. Inflation, labor costs, facility maintenance, and even the need to cover property re-financing have all impacted venue rents. Several medium, sized venues, including the site of our 2008 National Convention wanted as much as $30K just for the floor space rental.

We were fortunate to reach an agreement with the same hospitality group that manages the Embassy Suites and Conference Center in Frisco, TX, and we will be at the University Plaza Hotel and the Springfield Convention Center in Springfield, MO, July 17-19, 2025.

With approximatley 90 memberships in each, I'm not sure either of our Chapters would be able to host a regional alone in St. Louis or Kansas City today, however, much like our past partnerships that hosted regionals in Joplin, MO for a dozen years, we believe our two Chapters together can successfully host a quality regional in Springfield with volunteers from both Chapters and a little help from our friends around the country. We know this project will have hurdles but our joint working committee is already brainstorming to provide the memebrship a great regional experience.

I may be 72, but with my recently frame-on restored knees, using non-OEM replacement parts, I cant quit just yet. LOL Hang in there people!!

A lot of hard work was put into making this event possible by a number of STL & KC Chapter members.

Thank you we'll see you there in 2025.

                      Keith,

Good deal. Volunteers are needed to keep NCRS going.

Best to contact Bob Kinstrey the OP in this thread and get your name on the Chapter's volunteer list.

My only question is why does the event need to be held in door. I can remember when regionals and nationals were held outside

IMO, it is much more comfortable, predictable (wrt weather), and convenient indoors. I too have attended outdoor NCRS meets, and the indoor ones are so much better, I would think twice before attending any outdoor one. After the last outdoor regional I attended in Tucson earlier this year, I said never again.

Indoor meets pretty much became standard after the 2005 Kentucky hailstorm debacle.
