    1970 washer squirters

I got my washers to work including the headlights but the ones on the windshield just dribble. Is there a way to open them up or make them work better?

BTW, I entered the prestigious Lake Mirror Concours d'Elegance held on Saturday. I was absolutely in shock when I was told I won Best of Show!

Congratulations, Bob, on your Concours Best of Show...quite the honor!! A welding tip cleaner is what I have used to gently clean out the washer nozzles. They don't get used much (if at all) and they close up over time.

Thanks Leif. I actually have a set of those I have used so many times over the years. Didn't know what thats what they really were. So the opening should be large enough to use one of these? They look closed up. Are they supposed to be flat on the tip?

Word of caution on opening up squirter orfices. I did that on my 70s wiper arm and unfortunately made the hole too big so it sucked too much fluid volume from the other 4 squirters so that they barely worked. So if you do go that route open up the plugged orifice in tiny increments.

I got the holes on my squirters opened up and flowing but now another question. On the passenger side I discovered there are 3 holes. Two are of course parallel to the windshield. Looking down at the squirter, the third is on top so it shoots fluid virtually straight up. It appears exactly the same size as the other holes. Should it be there ?

The squirters should have three holes. One pointing up the windshield (parallel to the windshield), one pointing down to the windshield (perpendicular to the windshield), and another point down the windshield, parallel. I think GM engineers were thinking of the wind pushing them onto the windshield.
I've used some heat on the tubes to dissolve the junk in the tubes. Use a needle to open up the holes.

Thanks Gary. Guess I need to look for the third on the other side!

FWIW; After using PB B'laster to get my washers squirters opened up (C2) I found out
that it still did not work correctly. It turned out to be I needed new hoses leading up to
the squirters. Replaced them and everything worked out correct. JMHO>Larry
