    '66 AIM Missing L72 Pages

    Hello Everyone,

Does anyone out there have the following '66 AIM pages? My old Mid America copy and all other guys I've contacted with that company's version are also missing UPC L72 sheet D3 & D4. One of these pages shows the L72's HD differential side yoke to halfshaft caps & bolts. Sure would appreciate these two missing pages. Probably found in an early "Graphic Design" '66 AIM? Scanned copies here would be excellent!

    Thanks,
    Mike

Mike - I just looked at my 66 AIM, probably purchased back in the early 90s and it's also missing those pages. It has D2 and then D5 but no D3 or D4. How did you figure out what pages were MIA?

Re: '66 AIM Missing L72 Pages

      Hi Mike,

An educated guess that's backed up by the fact that the '65 and '67 AIM both show the big block differential pages listing the HD differential caps and bolts. Another strong reason that I feel these pages exist is that Don Olson cites the cap bolts listed on one of those sheets under his very accurate AIM database. The cap bolts show on his listed '65, '66, and '67 AIM pages.

When I get home this afternoon I'll list the cap bolt part number and dimensions unless someone beats me to it.

Again, thank you Don for this excellent cross reference source!
      Mike

        Mike & Mike,

My '65 AIM shows the cap and bolts under UPC L78, D4, page 319.
        Cap is #3872909, Bolt is #180126. Dimensions are not clear. I know from experience that it is 3/8" x 16 approx 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 (? ) length.

I can provide a copy of this page if needed.

        Ray

          Hi Ray,

Thanks for the info. Here's the '65 AIM page you're referencing. I've had it placed in my '66 AIM since this info was missing from my Mid America copy. GM Engineering Standards lists bolt #180126 under 280-M Steel (Grade 5) Hexagon Bolts. It's dimensions are listed there as 3/8-16 x 1-1/2" inches long plated in zinc.

My '65 AIM lists bolt #180126 under UPC L78 sheet D4 item 2
My '67 AIM lists bolt #180126 under UPC L36 sheet A12 item 2
          Don's '66 AIM lists bolt #180126 under UPC L72 sheet D3 item 2

So I assume there must be an actual '66 AIM page referencing these bolts and caps. I'd really like to add them to my old '66 AIM that's missing these 2 pages. UPC L72 sheets D3 and D4.

          Thanks, Mike

Thanks Gary for Sheets A3 & A4. Do you have UPC L72 Sheets D3 & D4? These are the ones I'm looking for. Hopefully your old AIM will have these pages.

I have two old 66 AIM's. One is the old Review Graphics and the other is a Mid-America copyrighted 1975.
Neither have the D3 & D4 pages in them.

Thanks Gary for checking your two AIMs. Much appreciated. Maybe we'll get lucky and someone will post those missing '66 AIM pages here.

                  Cheers, Mike
